Introduction

Adult Social Care is about supporting people who need help in their day-to-day lives.

People with disabilities, whether physical disabilities, mental illness, learning disabilities, or who are neurodiverse may need additional help to live independently.

Adult social care is helping these people live independently, whether it’s helping someone wash, dress and get out of bed; assisting someone to go into their local community; or to support someone to regain independent living skills. It can make a real positive difference to someone’s life.

Adult social Care can be delivered in a variety of different settings, including someone's home someone’s own home, care homes and nursing homes and day services. It can also include reablement services which help people regain skills, provide physical aids and adaptations for people’s homes, and support for family carers.
